Better Start at Forest School

1st March 2018

We’re very excited to announce a brand new programme of forest schools for young children starting next month.  The Forest School Play Project is a Better Start Bradford Project, being delivered by Get Out More over the next 3 years.  The Better Start Bradford programme is supported by the Big Lottery fund, using National Lottery funding to help children in Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor and Little Horton get the best start in life.

Working with early years settings, the Forest School Play Project will enable young children and their families to discover, learn and grow through outdoor play. We’re recruiting 2 forest school practitioners to deliver a series of 10 week programmes with 3 year olds and their families in parks and green spaces in the Better Start Bradford area.  We’ll be working with researchers from Born in Bradford Innovation Hub to collect evidence and discover whether forest school improves outcomes for young children, such as improving physical activity, communication skills and confidence.  We want to encourage a long term commitment to outdoor play and forest school activity, so as well as the forest schools themselves, there will be lots of ways for parents to get involved, including forest school training opportunities

Programmes start in April with taster sessions starting this month.  Find out more here
