Growing our Team
22nd April 2016

We are pleased to announce that we have a brand new Project Manager to help us open new forest schools in 3 new locations in West and North Yorkshire during 2016.

Our Managing Director, Annie Berrington explains  “2015 was a really busy year for us. We added extra dates and hours to our holiday forest school programmes in Bingley, Ilkley and Saltaire to cope with soaring demand and launched our first overnight forest school camp. We had the busiest summer holidays ever with 175 hours of activity for 435 children and young people, 11 forest school practitioners and 12 volunteers.”

New Forest School Project Manager Ruth McBain has worked in schools and outdoor learning for over 5 years, including delivery for Get Out More over the past 2 years. She will be focusing on the brand new forest school locations, which will widen the impact of their work within communities.

Ruth says “I have a passion for the outdoors, the natural environment, sustainability and one-world living and am keen to share and develop this enthusiasm in others. I love working with children, having a positive impact on their lives and enabling them to realise their potential in a way that we all find challenging, rewarding, interesting and enjoyable.”

As a social enterprise, Get Out More reinvests profits into the community and will be supporting projects in 2016 including the repair of paths at Middleton Woods, Ilkley, conservation work by groups such as the Friends of St Ives, Hirst Wood Regeneration Group and Friends of Park Wood and a community programme in Crossroads, Keighley to encourage more outdoor exploration for children.
